Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead design project teams across diverse facilities, including power, process, and healthcare. You will direct the complete design and construction process, adapting plans to budget, codes, and client needs.

The role requires strong leadership, advanced knowledge of mechanical practices, and the ability to deliver high-quality drawings, reports, and client communications. Travel, mentorship, and QA/QC are expected.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited degree with 7+ years of mechanical engineering experience; EPC project experience preferred.
• FE exam completed or in progress.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design of projects from concept through design completion.
• Prepare equipment specs, RFQs, technical bid summaries and purchase recommendations.
• Review vendor drawings and interface with suppliers, clients and other disciplines.
• Contribute to project schedule, scope, budget and staffing planning; manage change orders.
• Apply knowledge of mechanical codes and design practices to complex projects.
• Mentor junior engineers and ensure QA/QC standards are met.
• Coordinate construction administration with field personnel and resolve design issues.
• Prepare and present technical reports for clients and industry publications.
• Develop client relationships and pursue new business opportunities.
• Lead development of cost proposals and qualification statements.
• Prepare and present project budgets and cost estimates.
