Food Management Search, Inc. is assisting a multidisciplinary engineering firm with a Senior Mechanical Engineer role in the Greater Boston area.

The position focuses on central plant and campus energy systems, with responsibility for mechanical design from feasibility through construction and performance reviews. The ideal candidate has a BS in mechanical engineering, 7+ years of HVAC experience in institutional settings, and expertise in energy modeling and life‑cycle cost analysis.

Qualifications

• BS in mechanical engineering.
• 7+ years designing HVAC for institutional/commercial buildings with project‑lead experience.
• Depth in central plant or hydronic systems, or building energy modeling.
• Proficient in whole-building energy modeling/load calculation tools (IES VE/TRACE/HAP).
• PE license preferred.
• Strong client presentation and cross‑discipline coordination.
• Capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Responsabilités

• Run mechanical design from feasibility to construction documentation and administration.
• Design heating/cooling plants and distribution systems (hot water, steam, chilled water, GSHP/WSHP).
• Design air-side systems including energy recovery, radiant heating/cooling, humidity control.
• Build and verify load calculations and energy models; compare life‑cycle costs.
• Write control sequences and set building automation strategy.
• Lead decarbonization and electrification studies for campuses and institutions.
• Carry mechanical scope on LEED, Passive House, Living Building, or WELL projects.
• Review and mentor engineers and designers; coordinate with architects/owners/utilities/contractors.
• Represent mechanical discipline in client meetings and design reviews.
