Job summary

Management Performance Associates, a multidisciplinary consulting engineering firm, seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead central plant and campus energy projects in the Greater Boston area. The role is hybrid with offices in Boston, NH, or southern Maine, with travel to client sites as needed.

You will design HVAC systems, perform load calculations and energy models, and guide decarbonization and certification efforts while coordinating with architects, utilities, and contractors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• 7+ years designing HVAC systems for institutional and commercial buildings.
• Experience leading project teams on central plant and hydronic system design.
• Experience with energy modeling and life-cycle cost analysis.
• PE license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design from feasibility through construction administration.
• Design heating and cooling plants and their distribution (hot water, steam, chilled water, heat pumps).
• Design air-side systems and spaces needing tight temperature/humidity control.
• Build and review load calculations and energy models; compare options on life-cycle cost.
• Write control sequences and set building automation strategy.
• Lead decarbonization and electrification studies for campus clients.
• Ensure projects pursue LEED, Passive House, Living Building, or WELL.
• Review others' work and mentor engineers and designers.
• Coordinate with architects, owners, utilities, and contractors.
• Represent mechanical discipline in client meetings and design reviews.
