Horan Hiring Solutions, LLC is representing a multidisciplinary consulting engineering firm seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical design on large projects and serve as technical lead for central plant and campus energy work. The role is hybrid and can sit in Greater Boston, central New Hampshire, or southern Maine, with some travel to client sites.

Qualifications

• Minimum BS in mechanical engineering.
• 7+ years designing HVAC for institutional and commercial buildings and leading project teams.
• Depth in central plant and hydronic design, or energy modeling and life-cycle cost analysis.
• Proficient in whole-building energy modeling and load calculation platforms (IES VE, Trane TRACE, Carrier HAP, or similar).
• PE license preferred.
• Strong client presentation and cross-discipline coordination.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Run mechanical design from feasibility studies through construction documents and administration.
• Design heating/cooling plants and their distribution: hot water, steam, chilled water, ground-source heat pump systems.
• Design air-side systems including air handling with energy recovery and humidity control.
• Build and check load calculations and energy models; compare life-cycle costs.
• Write control sequences and define building automation strategy.
• Lead decarbonization and electrification studies for campus clients.
• Carry mechanical scope on LEED, Passive House, Living Building, or WELL projects.
• Review engineers and designers' work; mentor junior staff.
• Coordinate with architects, owners, utilities, and contractors.
• Represent mechanical discipline in client meetings and design reviews.
