Zaddy Solutions in the Boston area seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design of mechanical systems for institutional projects. This hybrid role sits in Greater Boston with occasional travel to client sites.

You will oversee central plant, energy systems, and decarbonization efforts across multiple projects. You will coordinate with architects, owners, and utilities, mentor junior staff, and drive energy modelling and life-cycle cost analyses.

Qualifications

• BS in mechanical engineering is required.
• 7+ years designing HVAC systems for institutional and commercial buildings.
• Experience leading project teams.
• PE license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Run mechanical design from feasibility to construction administration.
• Design heating and cooling plants and distributions: hot water, steam, chilled water, ground-source heat exchange, and water-source and air-source heat pump systems.
• Design air-side systems including air handling with energy recovery, radiant heating and cooling, and tight humidity-controlled spaces.
• Build and check load calculations and whole-building energy models, and compare system options on life-cycle cost.
• Write control sequences and set the building automation strategy for projects.
• Lead decarbonization and electrification studies for campus and institutional clients.
• Carry the mechanical scope on projects pursuing LEED, Passive House, Living Building, or WELL certification.
• Review the work of engineers and designers on projects and develop them.
