Job summary

ExcelliSearch, Inc. seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical design on large campus projects and act as technical lead for central plant and energy work.

The role is hybrid and can sit in Greater Boston, central New Hampshire, or southern Maine, with some travel to client sites. You will design heating and cooling plants, air-side systems, perform energy modeling, and guide decarbonization studies while coordinating with architects, owners, utilities, and contractors to deliver

Qualifications

• 7+ years designing HVAC systems for institutional and commercial buildings.
• Experience leading project teams.
• Depth in central plant and hydronic design, or in building energy modeling and life-cycle cost analysis.
• Working proficiency in a whole-building energy modeling and load calculation platform (IES VE, Trane TRACE, Carrier HAP, or similar).
• PE license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design from feasibility studies through construction documents and administration.
• Design heating and cooling plants and distribution systems (hot water, steam, chilled water, ground-source, and heat pumps).
• Design air-side systems with energy recovery and precise temperature/humidity control.
• Build load calculations and energy models; compare options on life-cycle cost.
• Write control sequences and set the building automation strategy.
• Lead decarbonization and electrification studies for campus/institutional clients.
• Carry the mechanical scope on LEED, Passive House, Living Building, or WELL projects.
• Review and mentor engineers and designers on projects.
• Coordinate with architects, owners, utilities, and contractors.
• Represent the mechanical discipline in client meetings and design reviews.
