Job summary

WSP seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Facilities Division, supporting designs for food & beverage, federal, and industrial facilities across Boise, ID; Madison, WI; Austin, TX; Houston, TX; Overland Park, KS, with open remote for the right candidate. You will lead mechanical design and construction efforts, mentor staff, and collaborate across disciplines.

The role requires 10+ years in HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing and piping design, a PE license, and strong client and regulatory

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or closely related discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, and utility piping design.
• Engineer license required (multi-state preferred).
• Knowledge of mechanical systems and theory such as heating and chilled water (hydronics), steam, compressed air, refrigeration, natural gas, and high-pressure water.
• Proficiency with mechanical engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and permitting.
• Proficiency with building and infrastructure design.
• Experience with planning and conducting inspections and investigations on various aspects of construction and design of facilities, structures and systems.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, engineering and non-engineering audiences.
• Flexibility to schedules and travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide oversight with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the site, surveys, blueprints, schematics, and reports.
• Apply high-level mechanical engineering techniques for complex building projects.
• Perform professional mechanical engineering work and investigations of site conditions to ensure compliance with codes.
• Develop construction and installation plans, specifications, and cost estimates; update infrastructure layout plans.
• Lead and manage mechanical design and construction for buildings and infrastructure projects.
• Mentor staff and support professional growth; collaborate with disciplines and clients.
• Lead larger-scale projects, monitor budgets, hours, and subcontractors.
• Ensure reports and presentations explain findings and recommendations to address issues.
