Job summary

WSP USA seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Facilities Division. This role supports projects across multiple US locations, including Austin and Houston, with remote work available for the right candidate.

You will oversee complex HVAC, plumbing, and utility piping design for food, federal, and industrial facilities. You will lead design and construction efforts, mentor staff, ensure compliance with codes, and manage budgets and schedules across rehab and new-build projects, expanding

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, and utility piping design.
• Engineer license required (multi-state preferred).
• Knowledge of mechanical systems: heating, hydronics, steam, compressed air, refrigeration, natural gas.
• Proficient with mechanical design, permitting, and project work.
• Experience with building and infrastructure planning, design, and management.
• Strong knowledge of relevant codes and compliance.
• Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
• Flexibility for varied schedules and occasional travel.

Responsibilities

• Provide oversight: collect, analyze data from sites, surveys, drawings and reports for design and construction.
• Apply high-level mechanical engineering techniques to complex building projects from concept to construction.
• Conduct investigations of site conditions to verify conformance with standards and permits.
• Develop construction plans, specs, and cost estimates; coordinate with owners and sub-consultants.
• Lead mechanical design and construction for rehab, new builds, and upgrades; manage budgets and schedules.
• Oversee technology and modeling approaches for proper installation and operation of equipment.
• Advise on temperature control, hydronic, air distribution, and plumbing systems at high level.
• Mentor staff and collaborate across disciplines to deliver projects.
