Job summary

DLR Group in Seattle is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer focused on the Justice + Civic sector to lead complex designs and multidisciplinary teams, delivering high-quality construction documents on schedule and within budget.

You will mentor staff, collaborate with architects and other engineers, and contribute to business development while advancing the firm’s climate action commitments and integrated design approach.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering.
• PE licensure.
• 15+ years of engineering experience.
• Knowledge of smoke control systems and coordination.
• Familiarity with building systems design and construction processes.
• Strong communication, time management, and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of local building and energy codes.
• Ability to lead teams and manage client relationships.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple projects and regional staff to apply justice project design criteria.
• Ensure design quality and manage budgets, schedules, and scope.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers and clients in an integrated design process.
• Develop business opportunities through RFP responses and client interactions.
• Oversee technical reviews before project issuance.
• Represent DLR Group in meetings with owners and suppliers.
