Job summary

DLR Group is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer focused on elevating our Justice + Civic work. You will lead multidisciplinary engineering teams to produce high‑quality construction documents, manage project schedules, and ensure deliverables meet budget and scope while collaborating closely with architects and clients.

You will drive design, participate in client relationships, and mentor staff across regions, contributing to the firm’s climate action commitments and integrated design process.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering is required.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) is required.
• 15+ years of experience designing building systems for Justice + Civic projects.
• Strong understanding of mechanical and plumbing systems for justice facilities.
• Familiarity with facility operations, codes, and security considerations.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple projects and staff across regions to ensure design criteria are understood and applied.
• Assure quality of design through reviews and client-facing milestones.
• Manage engineering project execution: budget, schedule, and scope, while meeting client expectations.
• Track milestones, prepare status reports, and maintain documentation.
• Lead meetings with staff and clients, coordinating personnel, vendors, and consultants.
• Contribute to business development through RFP responses and client interviews.
• Lead the design on projects of significance and collaborate with architects and other engineers.
• Perform technical reviews of interdisciplinary teams prior to issuance.
• Represent DLR Group in meetings with owners, clients, and suppliers.
