Job summary

DLR Group is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer for the Justice + Civic sector in Nashville. You will lead multidisciplinary teams to produce high-quality construction documents, manage schedules, and collaborate with architects and clients to deliver integrated building designs.

The role emphasizes leading projects, ensuring design quality, and contributing to business development while aligning with DLR Group’s climate action commitments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering is required.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) is required.
• 15+ years of experience as an engineer, including building systems for Justice+Civic facilities.
• Strong understanding of mechanical and plumbing systems for justice facilities.
• Familiarity with facility operations, maintenance, and design/construction processes.
• Ability to lead teams and manage client relationships.
• Knowledge of local building and energy codes and climate action commitments.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple projects and staff across regions to align design criteria for justice projects.
• Assure design quality through reviews and milestones.
• Manage project execution within budget, schedule, and scope.
• Document meetings and coordinate personnel, vendors, and consultants.
• Contribute to business development through RFPs and client interviews.
• Lead project design on significant projects, collaborating with architects and other engineers.
• Perform technical reviews of interdisciplinary teams.
• Represent DLR Group in meetings with owners, clients, and suppliers.
