Job summary

DLR Group is an integrated design firm that elevates human experience through design. The Senior Mechanical Engineer role focuses on Justice + Civic projects and leads engineering teams to develop high-quality construction documents across multiple regions.

You will drive project execution within budget and schedule, collaborate with architects and other engineers, and contribute to business development while upholding DLR Group's climate and sustainability commitments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
• 15+ years of experience designing building systems.
• Experience with justice facilities mechanical/plumbing systems.
• Understanding of smoke control and security integration.
• Familiarity with building energy codes.
• Ability to lead cross-disciplinary teams.
• Strong communication and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams to produce construction documents.
• Manage engineering project execution, ensuring budget, schedule, and scope alignment.
• Collaborate with architects and other engineers to produce integrated designs.
• Contribute to business development and client relationships.
• Provide technical reviews prior to document issuance.
• Represent DLR Group in meetings with owners, clients, and suppliers.
• Track milestones and prepare regular status reports.
• Lead the design on significant projects within Justice + Civic.
