Job summary

Black & Veatch Corporation is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the Mechanical Systems team for Industrial Water projects. You will function as a Senior Project Discipline Engineer (PDE), leading a design team on water and wastewater facilities for Industrial Water clients across the US and abroad.

You will oversee mechanical design activities across the project lifecycle, provide technical leadership, ensure adherence to codes and standards, and mentor junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• 11+ years of related work experience.
• Active engineering registration or licensure to support engineer of record (EOR).
• Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and mentoring junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of mechanical engineers on system design for complex industrial water/wastewater projects and manage scope, schedule, and budget.
• Oversee development of engineering deliverables including P&IDs, equipment layouts, piping isometrics, and equipment data sheets.
• Provide technical guidance on engineering calculations to size equipment and determine performance parameters.
• Ensure designs comply with company standards, client requirements, codes, and industry best practices.
• Review vendor/subcontractor submittals, calculations, shop drawings, and documentation for accuracy.
• Coordinate with other disciplines and project stakeholders (clients, PM, procurement, vendors, construction).
• Lead and mentor engineers, assign tasks, and provide coaching and progress reviews.
• Travel as needed for site visits and project engagements.
