Job summary

Axon in Sterling, VA is hiring a Mechanical Engineer to drive product development from concept to production with a focus on durability and reliability. You will own designs, perform thermal and structural analyses, prototype parts, and ensure that products perform in harsh environments.

Strong CAD skills (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Fusion 360), prototyping experience, embedded systems knowledge, and cross‑functional collaboration are essential. Hybrid onsite Tue–Fri; remote on Mondays.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Proven mechanical design and system integration experience.
• CAD proficiency for 3D modeling and drawings.
• Hands-on prototyping and fabrication tool experience.
• Knowledge of embedded systems and microcontrollers.

Responsibilities

• Drive product development from concept through manufacturing with durability and reliability focus.
• Lead ideation of new architectural concepts for subsystems and systems.
• Build and analyze high-fidelity proof‑of‑concept prototypes.
• Perform detailed mechanical analysis including FEA and tolerance analysis.
• Collaborate with domestic and international stakeholders.
• Document design specifications, production processes, and compliance.
