Job summary

RTX in Tucson, AZ is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical hardware design and system integration on defense programs. You will drive design changes, releases, and documentation across the full product lifecycle while mentoring engineers on a cross-functional team.

The role emphasizes collaboration with operations, quality and external suppliers, and requires travel to domestic and international sites. A strong background in 3D CAD and GD&T is preferred.

Qualifications

• Degree in STEM with 5+ years of experience, or an advanced degree with 3+ years experience.
• Experience creating, reviewing and interpreting technical documentation for hardware or tooling.
• Experience in mechanical design, development, manufacturing or tooling processes.
• Experience producing engineering drawings using a 3D CAD tool.

Responsibilities

• Develop innovative technical solutions across the product lifecycle from proposal to testing.
• Perform mechanical design analyses to ensure form, fit and function as intended.
• Lead a mechanical engineering team and collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve challenges.
• Support product assembly and integration in factories domestically and internationally.
