Job summary

RTX in Tucson, AZ is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical design and cross-functional teams for tactical missile systems. The role supports development, production, and deployment of defense products for US Government and international customers.

The position requires a STEM degree with 8+ years of relevant experience, strong GD&T knowledge, and the ability to obtain a security clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of eight (8) years of prior relevant experience.
• Experience in a technical leadership role across the development lifecycle.
• Experience leading and conducting trade studies, development and design, requirements development and management, and integration and test of mechanical engineering products.
• Experience working across multiple functional and discipline organizations to resolve technical challenges.
• Experience with development, creation, release, and updates of mechanical technical data packages; and interpretation of technical documentation in production.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical design, development, and documentation of components for tactical missile systems.
• Lead mechanical engineering teams and collaborate across disciplines.
• Support factory and suppliers with product development, obsolescence, troubleshooting.
• Interface with engineering disciplines and suppliers to develop design solutions and resolve challenges.
• Mentor and guide a team of engineers within the program.
• Apply knowledge of Raytheon processes and participate in design peer reviews.
