Job summary

RTX in Tucson, AZ seeks a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical design of missile systems and radar equipment within the Tactical Radars and Land Based Effectors group. Onsite role requiring US DoD security clearance; travel to suppliers and sites is possible.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate across disciplines, and drive design decisions using Raytheon tools and processes in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in STEM with 8+ years of relevant experience.
• Technical leadership across the development lifecycle.
• Trade studies, design, requirements management, and integration/testing of mechanical products.
• Cross-disciplinary collaboration to resolve technical challenges.
• Experience with mechanical data packages and production documentation.
• Familiarity with First Article Inspection (FAI) and RSI processes.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical design, development, and documentation of components for tactical missile systems.
• Lead mechanical engineering teams and collaborate with multiple disciplines.
• Support factory and suppliers with product development and obsolescence.
• Interface with engineers, non-technical disciplines, and suppliers to resolve design challenges.
• Work with limited supervision to meet schedule, cost, and technical goals.
• Participate in design peer reviews and trade studies for sound decisions.
• Implement Raytheon tools and processes in a fast-paced team environment.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers within the program.
