Job summary

Raytheon seeks a Sr. Mechanical Engineer for the Tucson, AZ site to support full program life cycle, early development, production support, and legacy sustainment across Air Launched Effectors products.

You will own mechanical design tasks, guide teams, and collaborate with factories and suppliers to meet requirements. Responsibilities include design, documentation, tolerance analyses, DFMA/Producibility improvements, and direct support for first builds and inspections.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience
• Experience in ANSI/ASME Y14.5 GD&T and tolerance analysis.
• Experience in CREO (Pro/E) or similar 3D solid modeling software.

Responsibilities

• Technical ownership and execution of tasks, and may be viewed as a prime technical contact in providing solutions to a wide range of complex technical problems related to the design, manufacture, integration, and production sustainment of various mechanical sub-systems both in the engineering lab and the factory floor both at Raytheon Technologies and at suppliers.
• Communicate with cross-disciplined engineering team members and suppliers to analyze, model, and document the design technical data package (TDP) and its capabilities and compliance with requirements.
• Serves in mentor role to junior engineers, providing technical guidance to others within mechanical discipline.
• Work autonomously with limited supervision, acting as the responsible engineer for major hardware subsystem. This often requires the ability to lead small teams of junior engineers, and collaborate across multiple functions and disciplines, such as supply chain, operations, quality, systems, analysis, and electrical.
• Perform mechanical design, development, and documentation of components, sub-assemblies, and major end items for defense system equipment in accordance with system requirements.
