Job summary

Vantage Data Centers is seeking a Principal Engineer, Mechanical Engineering to lead mechanical engineering strategy for North American data center projects. You will guide design, construction, and operations, influencing standards and collaborating with electrical, architectural, and operations teams.

The role requires 5–8 years of experience in mechanical design and mission-critical environments. Strong CAD/BIM/CFD skills and travel up to 15–25% are expected in this hybrid position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5–8 years of mechanical design, construction, and operations experience, data center or mission-critical preferred.
• Proven track record leading complex technical initiatives and cross-functional teams.
• Proficiency with design/documentation tools (AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, CFD) and reporting platforms (Excel, Power BI).
• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Travel up to 15–25% as business evolves.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive mechanical engineering strategy across North American data center projects.
• Lead complex technical problem-solving and provide expert guidance on design, construction, and operations.
• Review and approve critical design decisions, submittals, and change management actions.
• Support commissioning, turnover, and operational readiness activities.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to onboarding and development.
