Job summary

Vantage Data Centers seeks a Principal Engineer, Mechanical Engineering to lead mechanical design strategy for hyperscale data centers across North America. You will mentor engineers, guide design standards, and influence cross-functional teams including electrical, operations and innovation engineering.

You will drive complex technical initiatives, review critical decisions, and support commissioning and operational readiness while staying ahead of industry trends for performance and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5–8 years in mechanical design, construction and operations, data center or mission-critical.
• Proven track record leading complex technical initiatives and cross-functional teams.
• Proficient with AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, CFD modeling; Excel/Power BI experience.
• Deep knowledge of building codes and ASHRAE standards.
• Travel 15–25% as required.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive mechanical engineering strategy across North American data center projects.
• Lead complex technical problem-solving across design, construction and operations.
• Review and approve critical design decisions, submittals, and change actions.
• Support commissioning, turnover, and operational readiness activities.
• Collaborate with electrical, architectural, operations and innovation engineering.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to onboarding and development.
• Stay ahead of industry trends to improve system performance and efficiency.
