Job summary

Vantage Data Centers is seeking a Principal Engineer, Mechanical Engineering, to lead mechanical design strategy for North American hyperscale data center projects. This senior individual contributor will shape engineering direction, mentor engineers, and influence cross-functional teams across design, construction, and operations.

The role requires 5-8 years in mechanical design and data center experience, with proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, and CFD.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5-8 years of mechanical design, construction, and operations experience, preferably in data centers or mission-critical environments.
• Strong knowledge of building codes, ASHRAE standards, and design documentation tools.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive mechanical engineering strategy across North American data center projects.
• Lead complex technical problem-solving and provide expert guidance on design, construction, and operations.
• Review and approve critical design decisions, submittals, and change management actions.
• Support commissioning, turnover, and operational readiness activities.
• Mentor and develop engineers; contribute to onboarding and training.
• Stay ahead of industry trends; refine design standards and best practices.
• Engage in customer-facing engagements and RFP responses.
