Job summary

Blue Origin’s In-Space Systems unit seeks a Mechanical Engineer to architect, design, and validate mechanical packaging for spacecraft LRUs. You will own the mechanical design from concept through qualification and production, ensuring alignment stability, launch survivability, and reliable on-orbit performance.

You will design packaging architectures, generate CAD models, collaborate with electrical teams on thermal and structural analyses, and support environmental testing to ensure mission

Qualifications

• B.S. in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• 7+ years designing ruggedized electronic enclosures or similar high‑reliability hardware.
• Familiarity with static structural, modal, random vibration, and thermal analysis.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD and drawings (Creo, NX, or SolidWorks) with GD&T.
• Experience with environmental testing including vibration, shock, thermal cycle.
• Experience performing failure analysis and establishing root cause / corrective action.
• US citizenship or eligible to work in the US.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the entire design cycle of flight and mission critical avionics LRUs.
• Design and develop packaging architectures using DFM / DFA for avionics LRU enclosures.
• Create 3D CAD models and drawings, BOMs, installation drawings, and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers on PCB/interconnect thermal/structural analyses.
• Own revisions and configuration control through product lifecycle.
• Support environmental testing (vibration, TVAC, thermal cycling) and data reviews.
• Build and evaluate prototype assemblies and test fixtures.
• Review assembly instructions and support hardware builds.
