Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a senior mechanical engineer to lead the mechanical design, analysis, test, and review of avionics packaging for Lunar missions. You will work within the Core Avionics group inside the Lunar Permanence unit, mentoring junior engineers and coordinating with Electrical, Systems, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to ensure high-reliability hardware for spaceflight.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering required.
• 10+ years designing ruggedized electronic enclosures or high-performance/high-reliability hardware.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership as a member of a cross-disciplinary team in a fast-paced design environment.
• Participate in the entire design cycle of flight and mission critical avionics.
• Collaborate with customers and stakeholders to define requirements and design architecture.
• Lead design trade studies and create mechanical interface definitions, specifications, and control documents.
• Create 3D CAD models, assemblies, drawings, installation drawings, and other technical documentation.
• Mentor and train junior engineers; review designs and documentation.
• Plan and conduct engineering tests and data reviews; validate requirements through design, test, analysis, and inspection.
