Job summary

Blue Origin LLC is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to architect, design, and validate mechanical packaging for spacecraft LRUs. You will own the mechanical design from concept through qualification and production, ensuring stability, survivability through launch, and reliable on‑orbit performance.

The role involves creating CAD models and drawings, performing analyses, and coordinating with electronics and production teams to optimize mass, producibility, and integration flow across multiple LRUs.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• 7+ years of experience designing ruggedized electronic enclosures or similar high-performance hardware.
• Experience with static structural, modal, random vibration, and thermal analysis.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD drawings and GD&T (ASME Y14.5).
• Experience with environmental testing (vibration, shock, thermal cycling).
• Ability to perform failure analysis and establish corrective actions.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop packaging architectures for avionics LRUs.
• Create 3D CAD models, drawings, and installation plans.
• Collaborate with electrical team for thermal and structural integration.
• Own BOMs and configuration control through product lifecycle.
• Support environmental testing and data reviews.
• Assist production and quality engineering as needed.
