Job summary

Raytheon is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Tucson, AZ, on-site. You will design, analyze, and optimize aerospace mechanisms and structures, lead design efforts, and manage suppliers to meet demanding performance and aerospace standards.

The role requires a STEM degree with 5+ years of experience, GD&T, 3D CAD (CREO), and DoD security clearance. Occasional travel to collaborate with vendors and support hardware procurement, testing, and qualification activities.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience.
• Experience in mechanical design and/or advanced design development, and/or manufacturing processes, or tooling processes, or related disciplines.
• Experience developing, creating, releasing, and updating engineering drawings using a 3D CAD design tool.
• Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), including tolerance analysis, and/or interpreting and applying drawing practices for mechanical hardware.

Responsibilities

• Conceptualize and design innovative mechanical solutions for missiles, launchers, and related hardware throughout the product lifecycle.
• Lead design efforts and manage subsystems or systems with limited oversight.
• Perform mechanical design analyses to verify form, fit, and function for specific use cases.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers, collaborating across structures, thermal, systems, and electronics packaging teams.
• Coordinate with suppliers and support testing to meet aerospace standards.
• Participate in design reviews and trade studies to drive data-driven decisions.
