Job summary

RTX is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Tucson, AZ, onsite to design, analyze, and optimize aerospace mechanisms and structures. You will lead design efforts, manage suppliers, prototype, and support testing to meet rigorous aerospace standards for military programs.

The role requires a STEM degree with 5+ years of experience, GD&T expertise, and CREO CAD proficiency. A DoD Secret clearance is required, with occasional travel to collaborate with vendors and support hardware procurement.

Qualifications

• Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) required with extensive experience.
• Experience in mechanical design and/or advanced design development, and/or manufacturing or tooling processes.
• Experience developing, creating, releasing, and updating engineering drawings using a 3D CAD tool.
• Experience with GD&T including tolerance analysis and interpreting drawing practices for mechanical hardware.

Responsibilities

• Conceptualize and implement innovative technical solutions across the product lifecycle for missiles, launchers, and related equipment.
• Serve in a Responsible Engineering Authority role, often in project management for subsystems or systems.
• Perform mechanical design analyses to ensure form, fit, and function.
• Lead small teams with cross-disciplinary collaboration to deliver design solutions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical challenges and ensure timely delivery.
• Work independently to manage assignments within scope, budget, and requirements.
• Participate in design reviews and conduct trade studies to support engineering decisions.
• Mentor less-experienced engineers and promote technical excellence.
