Job summary

RTX’s Advanced Airframes Department in Tucson seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to design, analyze, and optimize aerospace mechanisms and structures. You will lead design efforts, develop prototypes, manage suppliers, and ensure testing aligns with rigorous aerospace standards.

The role requires a STEM degree with 5+ years (or an advanced degree with 3+ years), CREO CAD and GD&T expertise, and DoD Secret clearance or eligibility. Occasional travel may be needed.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a STEM degree with 5+ years of experience, or an advanced degree with 3+ years.
• Experience in mechanical design and development, manufacturing or tooling processes.
• Experience creating and releasing engineering drawings with a 3D CAD tool and GD&T know-how.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design for aerospace mechanisms and structures across programs.
• Perform analyses to optimize form, fit and function and support testing.
• Develop prototypes and coordinate with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in design reviews and trade studies.
• Ensure compliance with aerospace standards and project schedules.
