Job summary

RTX in Tucson, AZ is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to design, analyze and optimize aerospace mechanisms and structures on-site. You will lead design efforts, model and test prototypes, manage suppliers, and support testing to meet aerospace standards. Occasional travel may be required.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in mechanical design and enjoys solving challenging aerospace problems while collaborating across disciplines and ensuring quality and schedule. DoD clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a STEM degree and 5+ years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with 3+ years.
• Experience in mechanical design, manufacturing processes, tooling, or related disciplines.
• Experience developing, releasing, and updating engineering drawings using a 3D CAD tool.
• Experience with GD&T, tolerance analysis, and applying drawing practices for mechanical hardware.

Responsibilities

• Conceptualize and implement innovative technical solutions across lifecycle including missiles and electronics.
• Serve in a Responsible Engineering Authority (REA) role, potentially in project management for subsystems.
• Perform mechanical design analyses ensuring form, fit, and function for applications.
• Provide leadership to small teams; collaborate across structures, thermal, systems, electronics packaging, and more.
• Lead mechanical engineering efforts with cross-functional teams to resolve challenges and deliver designs.
• Work independently to manage assignments within scope, budget, and requirements; participate in design reviews.
• Mentor less experienced engineers and contribute to technical excellence.
