Job summary

RTX is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join the Test Solutions Engineering team in Tucson, AZ. The role focuses on designing and implementing advanced mechanical test fixtures and environmental test stations for high-reliability weapon systems.

You will drive the creation of 3D models, detailed drawings, and robust data packages while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure accuracy, repeatability, and long-term sustainment across the product lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in STEM discipline.
• Experience using CAD software to generate 3D models and mechanical assemblies.
• Experience creating or maintaining mechanical hardware documentation and drawings to drafting standards (ASME Y14 / ISO).
• Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, coursework, or projects.

Responsibilities

• Research, plan, and design custom mechanical test solutions for vibration, thermal, hydraulic, RF, and electro-optical environments.
• Conceptualize and implement mechanical systems that integrate with state-of-the-art test technologies.
• Use CAD tools to create 3D assemblies and detailed 2D drawings.
• Ensure all technical data packages follow ASME Y14 or ISO drafting standards.
• Integrate and validate test systems against accuracy, repeatability, and reliability requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to diagnose malfunctions and implement design improvements.
