Job summary

Sargent & Lundy offers a hybrid work schedule combining in-office and remote work for this Mechanical Designer role. You will develop mechanical general arrangements and piping systems using 3D plant layout models and lead cross-disciplinary design coordination with other engineering teams.

Ideal candidates have extensive drafting experience, strong 3D modeling skills, and a proven ability to mentor junior staff within a nuclear power design environment.

Qualifications

• Essential skills and experience:
• Ten or more years of detailed physical design experience in mechanical general arrangements, piping systems, and supports.
• Proficiency with design software tools in executing 3D plant layout models.
• Experience reviewing mechanical equipment outlines and interfaces and coordinating associated deliverables.
• Ability to interface with engineering and design teams of other disciplines in the power plant design process.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical general arrangements, piping systems, and supports.
• Use 3D modeling software to generate mechanical design schematics.
• Act as Mechanical design team lead in coordinating detailed design phases.
• Coordinate and guide designers and project team members for complete designs.
• Plan and execute design deliverables: general arrangements, piping isometrics, pipe supports, equipment locations.
• May conduct field walkdowns and data gathering at client facilities.
• Mentor less experienced drafters and designers.
