Sargent & Lundy in Knoxville, TN, is seeking a Mechanical Designer to contribute to a hybrid office/remote work arrangement on a multi-discipline engineering team. You will develop mechanical general arrangements, piping isometrics, and layout drawings in 3D, using SmartPlant S3D.

The role requires at least three years of detailed design experience, proficiency with 3D plant layout tools, and the ability to mentor junior designers. The team emphasizes collaboration and timely design delivery.

Qualifications

• SmartPlant S3D modeling experience with SPID, SPF and S3D integration.
• Minimum three years of detailed design experience in mechanical plant drawings (piping, supports, layout).
• Proficiency in 3D plant layout modeling tools.
• Ability to interface with engineering and design teams across disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical general arrangements, piping isometrics, pipe supports and layout drawings in 3D.
• Generate deliverables, BOMs, and catalogs using SmartPlant S3D.
• Interpret piping and instrumentation diagrams and ensure design aligns with requirements.
• Lead mechanical design coordination and resolve 3D model clashes.
• Mentor junior designers and provide guidance to the team.
• Coordinate with project teams to deliver complete designs on schedule.
