Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a senior mechanical drafters/designer to develop 3-D plant layouts and mechanical schematics. You will work under the Mechanical Project Lead with multi-discipline teams to advance design from concept through detailed execution, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.

The role emphasizes extensive experience with piping systems, general arrangements, and mentor responsibilities for junior designers in a nuclear power context.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in drafting or a high school diploma with 1+ years drafting coursework or equivalent technical experience.
• Ten+ years of detailed physical design experience in mechanical general arrangements, piping systems, and supports.
• Proficiency with design software tools in executing 3D plant layout models.
• Experience reviewing mechanical equipment, outlines, interfaces, and coordinating related deliverables.
• Ability to interface with engineering and design teams across disciplines in nuclear plant design.

Responsibilities

• Assist under Mechanical Project Lead to develop mechanical 3-D layout drawings and schematics.
• Design mechanical systems and troubleshoot diverse design issues.
• Coordinate and lead the mechanical design team through detailed design phases.
• Mentor less experienced drafters and designers.
• Plan and execute design deliverables such as piping isometrics, composites, supports, and equipment locations.
