Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Phoenix, AZ, is seeking a Mechanical Designer to join our Nuclear Power Group on a hybrid schedule with a mix of office and remote work.

Under the Mechanical Project Lead, you will develop 3-D plant layout drawings, lead design coordination, and mentor junior drafters while delivering detailed piping and equipment layouts. The role requires SmartPlant S3D experience and field walkdown opportunities.

Qualifications

• Three+ years of detailed mechanical plant design experience (piping, supports, equipment layout).
• Experience with SmartPlant S3D including SPID/SPF and clash resolution.
• Ability to review vendor drawings and interface points.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical 3D layout drawings in a 3D model.
• Lead mechanical design coordination and guide teammates.
• Plan and execute design deliverables such as GA drawings, piping isometrics, and supports.
• Possibly perform field walkdowns and data gathering at client facilities.
• Mentor less experienced drafters and designers.
• Assist with walkdowns at client facilities for design input.
• Capable of badge access to a nuclear facility.
