Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is hiring a senior mechanical designer to join the Energy & Industrial Group. The role focuses on developing mechanical layouts in 3D, combining drafting expertise with piping and support design for power plant projects. You will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and mentor junior drafters.

The position supports a hybrid work arrangement, with on-site collaboration three days per week and two days of remote work. A strong background in 3D plant layout modeling is required.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or equivalent drafting experience.
• 10+ years in mechanical general arrangements, piping, supports.
• Proficiency with 3D plant layout modeling tools.
• Experience reviewing mechanical equipment outlines and interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical layout drawings in a 3D model.
• Design mechanical systems and troubleshoot issues.
• Create schematics and piping isometrics.
• Coordinate detailed design phases for the mechanical model.
• Support other designers to ensure timely design.
• Plan and execute mechanical deliverables (GA, piping, supports).
• Assist engineers during field walkdowns at client sites.
• Mentor less experienced drafters and designers.
