Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Mechanical Designer to join our Nuclear Power Group in the Washington, DC area. The role involves developing mechanical general arrangement drawings, piping isometrics, and 3-D plant layouts, using SmartPlant S3D, SPID and SPF data.

Three days in the office, two days remote. You will mentor junior drafters, coordinate with multi-discipline teams, and ensure design deliverables meet project requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience with SmartPlant S3D modeling and SPID/SPF integration.
• Clash detection and discrepancy checks between deliverables.
• Interface with SmartPlant Administrators for templates/catalogs.
• Plant model data management and drawing production.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical general arrangement drawings, piping isometrics, pipe supports, and equipment layouts in a 3-D model.
• Generate mechanical design deliverables, BOMs, and commodity lists using S3D/SPID/SPF data.
• Coordinate and lead detailed design phases for integrated mechanical design models.
• Resolve clashes in the 3-D model and report status to leadership.
• Mentor less experienced drafters and designers.
