Job summary

Stormentum Inc. is seeking a Staff Mechanical Design Engineer to prototype and scale power electronics hardware for AI data centers, EVs, and microgrids. You’ll own the design from concept through production, optimizing thermal, electrical, and packaging performance while coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams.

This hands-on role demands strong fundamentals, external partner management, and a track record of delivering robust hardware in fast-moving startup contexts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• 8+ years hands-on mechanical design in power/energy hardware.
• Experience taking products from concept to production.
• Packaging high-voltage systems (400V+) experience.
• Strong first-principles thinking and problem solving.
• Prototyping and test setup with custom fixtures.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design with external hardware development partner and manage deliverables.
• Integrate mechanical for data center and microgrid power systems and test infra.
• Develop test plans, prototypes, and validation strategies for rapid tech maturation.
• Run multi-physics simulations for thermal, structural, and fluid performance.
• Design electro-mechanical components like heatsinks, manifolds, busbars.
• Address packaging, creepage, EMI, vibration, and enclosure requirements.
• Identify improvements to raise power density and enable automated manufacturing.
• Create cost models and guide manufacturing process choices.
• Collaborate with electrical, magnetics, controls, and manufacturing teams.
• Produce complete drawings, manufacturing instructions, and assembly docs.
