Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer Level 5 within the Marine Systems organization to support rapid growth in launcher hardware for Navy platforms. You will design concepts, generate solid models, and coordinate with internal stakeholders to meet technical, schedule, and cost targets.

The role requires a strong background in machine design, GD&T, and experience with CAD tools. US citizenship and ability to obtain a Secret Clearance are mandatory; travel may be involved.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in STEM with 12+ years of engineering experience; or Master’s with 10+; or PhD with 8 years.
• Solid background in machine design and drawing generation.
• Ability to plan tasks and execute to the established schedule.
• US citizen and able to obtain/maintain a US Government Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop designs concept and generate solid models reflecting concepts.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders balancing technical, schedule, and cost requirements.
• Conduct trade studies to select best design approaches.
• Oversee generation of engineering drawings using GD&T practices.
• Identify procurement needs and support hardware fabrication and nonconformance disposition.
• Provide assembly checkout and test support.
• Generate task plans and support proposal efforts.
• Occasional domestic travel may be required.
