Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer Level 5 to join our Marine Systems team to support launcher hardware for Navy programs. You will develop designs, generate solid models, and collaborate with stakeholders to meet technical, schedule, and cost requirements.

The qualified candidate will have a STEM degree with extensive engineering experience, a strong background in machine design, and proficiency with CAD tools (NX, CREO, SolidWorks). U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline with 12+ years engineering experience; MS with 10+ years or PhD with 8+ years may be substituted
• Strong background in machine design and drawing generation
• Ability to plan tasks and execute to schedule
• Ability to work in fast-paced environment supporting multiple projects
• Proficiency in using common engineering design, production, analysis, and office tools
• U.S. citizen
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret Clearance

Responsibilities

• Develop designs concept and generate solid models reflecting concepts
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders balancing technical, schedule, and cost requirements
• Conduct trade studies to evaluate best design approaches
• Oversee generation of engineering drawings using GD&T practices
• Identify procurement needs and support fabrication and nonconformance disposition
• Provide assembly checkout and test support
• Generate task plans and support proposal efforts
• Occasional domestic travel may be required
