Job summary

Northrop Grumman in Sunnyvale, CA is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer Level 3/4 to support launcher hardware development for Navy platforms. You will design concepts, create solid models, and coordinate with teams to meet technical, schedule, and cost goals onsite 4 days a week.

Responsibilities include generating drawings, performing trade studies, and supporting fabrication and test activities. U.S. citizenship and a Secret clearance are required.

Qualifications

• Good communication skills, both oral and written.
• Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment.
• Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline with 5 years relevant work experience; or Master’s Degree with 3 years relevant work experience.
• Experience in machine design and drawing generation.
• Experience with CAD modeling (NX, CREO, SolidWorks, or equivalent).
• US citizenship and ability to obtain/maintain a US Government Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop designs concept and generate solid models that reflect those concepts.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders balancing technical, schedule, and cost requirements.
• Conduct trade studies to select and evaluate best design approaches to fulfill requirements.
• Oversee the generation of engineering drawings using common GD&T practices.
• Identify procurement needs and support fabrication.
• Provide assembly checkout and test support.
• Generate task plans and support proposal efforts.
• Occasional domestic travel may be required.
