Job summary

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer Level 4 to join the Annapolis, MD team. You will develop launcher hardware designs, create solid models, and work with stakeholders to balance technical, schedule, and cost requirements.

Requirements include a STEM degree with years of experience, strong machine design skills, CAD proficiency (NX/CREO/SolidWorks), and a US citizenship with ability to obtain a Secret clearance. Travel up to 10% may be involved.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in a STEM discipline with 8 years relevant work experience; or Master’s Degree with 6 years; or PhD with 3 years of relevant work experience.
• Experience in machine design and drawing generation.
• Ability to plan tasks and execute to the established schedule.
• Onsite 4 days a week; remote work is not an option for this role.
• US citizenship required; ability to obtain & maintain a US Government Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop designs concept and generate solid models reflecting concepts.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders balancing technical, schedule, and cost requirements.
• Conduct trade studies to select and evaluate best design approaches.
• Oversee generation of engineering drawings using GD&T practices.
• Identify procurement needs and support fabrication; provide assembly checkout and test support.
• Generate task plans and support proposal efforts; occasional domestic travel may be required.
