Job summary

Northrop Grumman in Sunnyvale, CA is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer Level 4 to join the Mission Systems team. You will develop design concepts, create solid models, and coordinate with stakeholders to balance technical, schedule, and cost constraints.

Ideal candidates bring strong CAD experience, GD&T proficiency, and the ability to plan tasks and execute to schedules. This onsite role requires 4 days in the office and offers growth within a leading defense contractor.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in STEM with 8 years of relevant experience, or advanced degrees with fewer years.
• Experience in machine design and drawing generation.
• US citizenship required and ability to obtain/maintain Secret clearance.
• Onsite 4 days a week; remote work is not an option.

Responsibilities

• Develop design concepts and generate solid models.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders balancing technical, schedule, and cost requirements.
• Conduct trade studies to select and evaluate best design approaches to fulfill requirements.
• Oversee the generation of engineering drawings using GD&T practices.
• Identify procurement needs and support fabrication.
• Provide assembly checkout and test support.
• Generate task plans and support proposal efforts.
• Occasional domestic travel may be required.
