Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer Level 5 to support launcher hardware for Navy platforms. The role involves developing initial designs, generating solid models, and coordinating with stakeholders on technical, schedule, and cost requirements.

Qualified candidates have a STEM degree with extensive experience in machine design, drawing generation, and GD&T, and must be a US citizen able to obtain a Secret Clearance. Occasional travel is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in a STEM field with 12+ years of engineering experience, or MS with 10+ years, or PhD with 8 years.
• Solid background in machine design and drawing generation.
• Ability to plan tasks and meet schedules; fast-paced, multi-project environment.
• US citizenship and ability to obtain US government Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop designs concept and generate solid models reflecting those concepts.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders balancing technical, schedule, and cost requirements.
• Conduct trade studies to select and evaluate best design approaches.
• Oversee generation of engineering drawings using GD&T practices.
• Identify procurement needs and support hardware fabrication and nonconformance disposition.
• Provide assembly checkout and test support.
• Generate task plans and support proposal efforts.
• Occasional domestic travel may be required.
