Job summary

Whole Foods Market is seeking an Expert Butcher in California to lead the Meat Team, mentor apprentices, and supervise daily operations. You will perform advanced meat cutting, prep, merchandising, and ensure accurate signs and pricing while upholding safety and quality standards.

You will coach and coachable team members, manage orders in absence of leadership, and deliver excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment. Flexibility for nights and weekends is expected.

Qualifications

• Completed WFM Butcher Apprentice Program or equivalent training program.
• Expert meat cutting experience in a butcher role, usually resulting from 3-5 years of full-time butcher experience.
• Proven track record of training and mentoring other Butchers or Apprentice Butchers.

Responsibilities

• Maintains WFM GIG policies, SOPs, and quality standards.
• Performs all aspects of meat cutting including trimming specifications and special orders.
• Cuts, platters, and merchandises products with accurate signs and pricing.
• Trains and mentors other Butchers and Apprentice Butchers including serving as instructor.
• Supervises Meat Team Members and assigns tasks; acts as lead in absence of Team Leadership.
• Assists with ordering and inventory management; processes orders during absences.
• Delivers excellent customer service and uses suggestive selling techniques.
• Maintains clean and sanitary environment; ensures equipment cleanliness and safety standards.
• Performs opening, mid, and closing duties; reports safety hazards promptly.
• Performs other duties as assigned by leadership.
