Job summary

Blue Origin, based in the United States, is seeking a talented M&P Engineer to support the Lunar Transportation team. The role focuses on materials and processes, with emphasis on corrosion prevention and qualification for aerospace applications.

You will lead cross-functional efforts, develop specifications, and coordinate testing and reviews to ensure safe, reliable components for spaceflight.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in Aerospace, Material Science, Mechanical, Manufacturing or Chemical Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of demonstrated M&P Engineering experience on a production flight program.
  • In-depth knowledge of NASA corrosion prevention requirements, associated standards, characterization methods, and industry best practices.
  • Strong familiarity with NASA-STD-6012 and corrosion prevention and control requirements for space vehicles.

Responsibilities

  • Provide broad support for aerospace grade materials and processes including aluminum, steel, inconel, copper, bronze, composites, forming, extrusion, plating, coating, friction welding, brazing, anodization, passivation, and laminates.
  • Own corrosion prevention and control plan, requirements, implementation, and verification; provide design engineering support for corrosion prevention for all vehicle systems.
  • Lead and coordinate characterization and qualification efforts related to corrosion characterization.
  • Review production drawings for large complex assemblies, documenting the review to established requirements.
  • Responsible for M&P signatory release of engineering drawings for parts and assemblies.
  • Lead and coordinate internal and external M&P efforts, including development of specifications, supplier qualification, First Article Inspection, mechanical testing, and customer-facing updates.
  • Lead the development of internal engineering and quality processes to standardize and accelerate material evaluation, implementation, and qualification.
  • Work with cross-functional teams within the Lunar organization and other business units.
