Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a skilled M&P Engineer to join the Lunar Transportation team in Florida. You will lead corrosion prevention efforts, review complex assemblies, and drive material and process qualification for aerospace applications on a production flight program.

The role requires a BS degree in engineering and 5+ years of M&P experience, with familiarity of NASA standards and cross-functional collaboration across the Lunar organization. Travel to vendor sites may be required.

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in Aerospace, Materials, Mechanical, Manufacturing or Chemical Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of demonstrated M&P engineering experience on a production flight program.
  • Knowledge of NASA corrosion prevention requirements and related standards.
  • Experience with dissimilar metal compatibilities and mitigation techniques.
  • Familiarity with NASA-STD-6012 and corrosion prevention for space vehicles.
  • Experience reviewing materials and manufacturing processes for aerospace applications.
  • Experience developing and executing test plans for analysis and qualification of components, materials and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide broad support for aerospace grade materials and processes including aluminum, steel, inconel, copper, bronze, composite; forming, extrusion, plating, coating, friction welding, brazing, anodization, passivation, laminates.
  • Own corrosion prevention and control plan, requirements, implementation, and verification; provide design engineering support for corrosion prevention for all vehicle systems.
  • Lead and coordinate characterization and qualification efforts related to corrosion characterization.
  • Review production drawings for large complex assemblies and document reviews to required standards.
  • Responsible for M&P signatory release of engineering drawings for parts and assemblies.
  • Lead and coordinate internal and external M&P efforts, including development of specifications, supplier qualification, First Article Inspection, mechanical testing, and customer-facing updates.
  • Lead the development of internal engineering and quality processes to standardize material evaluation, implementation, and qualification.
  • Work with cross-functional teams within the Lunar organization and other business units.
