Job summary

GovCIO seeks a Master Network & Security Engineer to lead enterprise network-security architecture and operations. You will manage Palo Alto NGFWs with PAN-OS and Panorama, design secure policies, and coordinate HA deployments across complex environments.

You will partner with SOC and other teams to reduce risk, mentor junior engineers, and develop runbooks and standards to ensure reliable, scalable security infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or equivalent in cybersecurity or related field.
• 10+ years in network engineering or security infrastructure operations.
• 6+ years Palo Alto firewall experience in production environment.
• Advanced Palo Alto Panorama experience for multi-device management.
• Strong knowledge of HA designs and failover recovery.
• Expert TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, NAT, VPN, and packet diagnostics.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, deployment, and lifecycle management of Palo Alto NGFW environments.
• Own centralized firewall management through Palo Alto Panorama.
• Design and govern security policies using zero-trust and least-privilege.
• Configure NAT, VPNs, decryption, URL Filtering, and App-ID policies.
• Lead network segmentation and microsegmentation initiatives.
• Architect and test HA deployments (Active/Passive/Active).
• Resolve complex HA failures and coordinate failover testing.
• Triage incidents with SOC, and improve detection and response procedures.
• Develop runbooks, diagrams, and architecture standards.
