Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a highly experienced Master Network & Security Engineer to lead the design, operation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of enterprise network-security infrastructure. The role focuses on Palo Alto NGFW environments, Panorama management, and Cortex XSIAM integrations.

The Senior Engineer serves as a technical escalation point, partners with SOC and infrastructure teams, and drives standards to reduce risk while maintaining highly available services.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in network engineering or security operations.
• 6+ years of hands-on Palo Alto Networks firewall experience in a production enterprise.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, deployment, administration, and lifecycle management of Palo Alto NGFW environments.
• Own centralized firewall management through Panorama, including device groups, templates, upgrades, backups, and onboarding.
• Design and govern security policies using zero-trust and least-privilege principles.
• Configure and troubleshoot security zones, NAT, VPNs, URL Filtering, Threat Prevention, WildFire, DNS Security, and App-ID policies.
• Lead network segmentation initiatives with VLANs, subinterfaces, and application-based policies.
• Develop secure controls for traffic between users, servers, and cloud resources.
• Architect HA deployments (Active/Passive/Active/Active) and runbooks.
