Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Master Network & Security Engineer to lead enterprise network-security design, operations, and improvements. The role covers Palo Alto NGFWs, Panorama, HA, Cisco switching, zero-trust policies, and Strata/Cortex integrations.

Senior engineer will act as escalation point for complex incidents, drive architecture initiatives, and partner with SOC and cloud teams to minimize risk while maintaining highly available services. Remote work within the U.S.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent).
• 10+ years of progressive experience in network engineering, network security, firewall administration, or security infra operations.
• 6+ years hands-on Palo Alto Networks firewall experience in production environment.
• Advanced operational experience with Palo Alto Panorama, including multi-device policy management, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
• Strong hands-on experience designing and troubleshooting Palo Alto High Availability deployments.
• Expertise in TCP/IP, IPv4/IPv6, DNS, DHCP, NAT, VPNs, and packet-level troubleshooting.
• Experience with enterprise switching technologies and network segmentation/microsegmentation.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, deployment, administration, and lifecycle management of Palo Alto NGFW environments running PAN-OS.
• Own centralized firewall management through Palo Alto Panorama including device groups, templates, upgrades, and onboarding.
• Design and govern security policies using zero-trust, least-privilege, and risk-based principles.
• Configure and troubleshoot security zones, NAT, VPNs, decryption, URL Filtering, Threat Prevention, and App-ID policies.
• Lead network segmentation and microsegmentation using security zones, VLANs, and virtual routers.
• Develop secure controls for traffic between users, servers, apps, and cloud resources.
• Architect and troubleshoot Palo Alto High Availability deployments (Active/Active, Active/Passive).
• Lead root-cause analyses for major incidents and develop preventive actions.
