Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Master Network & Security Engineer to lead the design, operation, and optimization of enterprise network-security infrastructure. You will manage Palo Alto NGFWs with PAN-OS, Panorama, and Cortex XSIAM, while coordinating with SOC and infrastructure teams to reduce risk and ensure service availability.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, IT, CS, Engineering or related field; equivalent experience considered.
• 10+ years in network engineering, security, firewall administration, or security ops.
• 6+ years hands-on Palo Alto firewall experience in a production enterprise.
• Advanced experience with Palo Alto Panorama for multi-device policy mgmt, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
• Strong HA knowledge: Active/Passive/Active/Active designs and failover recovery.
• Expertise in TCP/IP, routing, NAT, VPNs, and traffic decryption/policy enforcement.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, deployment, admin, and lifecycle mgmt of Palo Alto NGFW environments (PAN-OS).
• Own centralized firewall mgmt through Panorama: device groups, templates, upgrades, backups, logs.
• Design and govern security policies using zero-trust and least- privilege principles.
• Configure and troubleshoot security zones, NAT, VPN, URL filtering, Threat Prevention, WildFire, DNS Security, App-ID policies.
• Lead network segmentation and microsegmentation using VLANs, subinterfaces, virtual routers and app-based policies.
• Develop secure controls for traffic between users, servers, apps, management and cloud resources.
• Architect and troubleshoot HA deployments; manage failover and synchronization across devices.
• Resolve HA failures, monitor health, and perform planned failover tests and PAN-OS upgrades.
