Job summary

Vertex Pharmaceuticals seeks a Senior Manager, Manufacturing Operations for a 2nd shift. You will lead a supervisory team, ensuring safe, compliant manufacturing aligned with production schedules and site objectives.

The role demands strong leadership, cGMP expertise, and extensive experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing, including cell therapy operations, quality workflows, and continuous improvement initiatives. On-site, with a focus on audit readiness and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a scientific, technical, or engineering discipline.
• 10+ years of direct people supervision in a cGMP manufacturing environment.
• Significant leadership experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop a supervisory team with strong execution and accountability.
• Direct activities of the group through staff management, prioritization and task assignment.
• Align with site leadership to provide departmental and technical leadership.
• Lead departmental and interdisciplinary projects as project leader.
• Ensure work aligns with detailed production schedules and business needs.
• Oversee cGMP manufacturing activities including equipment setup, operation, cleaning and supporting activities.
• Review and approve batch documentation and GMP records.
• Provide on-the-floor batch record review and escalate issues as needed.
• Participate in investigations, CAPAs, and change controls to support objectives.
• Drive continuous improvement and cross-functional validation activities.
• Ensure audit readiness and adherence to procedures and documentation standards.
• Monitor GMP compliance for personnel, processes and activities.
